“Corazón de Nuestra Cultura” or The Heart of Our Culture, began as a concept for National Hispanic Heritage Month and grew into something much deeper. I wanted to design a piece that didn’t just celebrate heritage, but embodied it. I started by sketching a human heart by hand, breaking it into twenty sections, each one representing a Hispanic nation. The national flags of those countries flow through the arteries and ventricles, symbolizing how individual cultures beat together as one. Printed using a high-detail direct-to-film process, the design carried vibrant color and emotion onto every shirt, poster, and digital application. What makes this piece even more special is its legacy: I trademarked the design with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and it continues to be used by Clovis Community College today. This project is a personal milestone for me. Not just as a designer, but as a storyteller who believes art can speak across boundaries to celebrate and educate. Key roles: Illustration, concept development, cultural design, production coordination, trademark registration.
