The Wesley Tool Kit
When Clovis Community College became California’s 113th community college, it needed a unified voice that connected its academic and new athletic programs. Working closely with campus leadership, I helped establish a comprehensive brand system that balanced modern design with institutional credibility. From logo treatments and typography to athletics integration and web standards, the guidelines I developed brought visual consistency and pride to a brand still finding its identity. The system remains in use today. That experience became the foundation for how I now approach branding at Westlands Water District where identity extends beyond color and logo into character and story. I designed Wesley the Water Drop, the district’s official mascot, as both an educational ambassador and an expressive visual asset. Wesley’s design system includes a flexible “toolkit”. A base water drop body with interchangeable hands, faces, and gestures that allow him to fit any campaign tone. Whether he’s celebrating conservation, explaining groundwater recharge, or making an appearance as a plush mascot, Wesley represents accessibility, consistency, and creativity. This section reflects my belief that brand guidelines aren’t strict or boring rules, they’re tools for creative continuity. They keep a message consistent while leaving room for character, humor, and human connection. Key roles: Brand architecture, mascot development, visual systems design, identity standards documentation, institutional branding, illustration.
